After striking up a close relationship with writer Yannick Marien, he reluctantly showed me his private notebooks. For him, they act as a combination of a diary and sketchbook for his literary sources and ideas. To me, they offer a very deep yet almost inscrutable insight into his world and artistic process. Yannick eventually agreed to let me use pages from his notebook, as I find they relate well to the elusiveness of the texts in my own works, and transform them into paintings. Adding my typical collage images and swirls of paint to them, my texts are replaced by his elusive writings. By doing so, both our worlds start to merge in a mysterious new constellation.
