ECHO #1

12 - 20 October 2024

K.L.8, Brussels, Belgium

After taking a year-long break, K.L.8 starts up again by looking back. After more than 4 years of hosting exhibitions, we invited back 10 artists we showed in the past. In the meantime, they’ve been bouncing around, developing their practice , and now they come back to us like the sound waves of an echo: slightly changed, but at the core still the same.

The title ECHO #1 symbolises the cyclical nature of artistic practice. Like sound waves that bounce back, each artist has ventured into the world, engaged with various projects, and refined their craft. They return transformed yet fundamentally unchanged, embodying the notion that evolution is an intrinsic part of creativity.

Our exhibition also builds on this idea. The artworks have been arranged so as to face or confront one another, creating a dynamic interplay that highlights both similarities and contrasts. This arrangement invites visitors to explore the connections between diverse forms and ideas, reflecting the multifaceted nature of contemporary art.

Dilum Coppens is a Belgian artist, investigating the creation of "meaning" through mythologyical references. His practice consits of different media, ranging from painting and drawing to video and performance. Most often, his creations come together in total-installations with painterly touches.
